Kantara (2022)

Kantara, directed by Rishab Shetty, is a Kannada action-drama rooted in folklore and culture of coastal Karnataka.

The story follows Shiva (Rishab Shetty), a carefree villager haunted by his past, who stays away from his ancestral spiritual duty of Bhoota Kola. Life takes a turn when Murali (Kishore), a strict forest officer, arrives to declare the local forest as a reserve, threatening the livelihood and beliefs of the villagers.

Shiva’s relationship with Leela (Sapthami Gowda), a newly appointed forest guard, is caught between love and duty, while Devendra Suttooru (Achyuth Kumar), the landlord, has his own vested interests in the land.
